Tasman Glacier in the Mt Cook National Park is a major
attraction. You are whisked from the airport to the upper glacier
within minutes and are then free to explore around 13 km of
undulating glacial bowls, skimming past huge icefalls and
crevasses down to the lowest glacial snowfield. The helicopter
pilot then swiftly returns you to the start area. It is pure
bliss - the longest glacial ski run in the Southern Hemisphere.
At Wanaka, skiers are flown in to the vast Harris Mountains
region - the largest heli-ski area south of the equator.
